Additional Notes

Mobile Devices

While mobile devices can be used to attend most live classes at Royal Mount School and to access the school’s Portals, we do not recommend that students do so because the quality of the classes will suffer.

Apple MAC Computers

We recommend using a Windows PC or laptop, but Apple MAC computers can also be used. We are required to inform our users that we are unable to provide the same level of support for Apple MAC computers as we do for Windows computers. Apple MACs use different file types than Windows, so if an Apple MAC is used, Microsoft Office for Mac or Google Docs are required to save documents in the correct file types, or files may need to be converted for compatibility.

Internet Connection

We recommend a wired network connection is used wherever possible rather than Wi-Fi. We recommend a minimum Internet download speed of 10 Mbps.

Printer and Scanner

We recommend that students have access to a printer and scanner for school work as some subjects require the printing and scanning of class exercises and exams.

Software Requirements

  • An office package – Microsoft Office is recommended. Students will have access to the online versions of Microsoft Office apps whilst they are attending the school. These apps can perform the majority of tasks needed for school work but do have limitations compared to the installed versions.
  • A PDF Viewer – Adobe Reader is recommended.
  • Internet Browser – Google Chrome or Firefox are recommended.
