Terms and Conditions

We are very happy to have your child as a student at Royal Mount School. To maintain the high standard of education you and your child deserve, we have a simple set of conditions that form the agreement between you and the school. Please read them carefully to ensure that you and your child are happy with them. These Conditions form a legally binding agreement for the provision of educational services.

1. Introduction

This agreement sets out the terms and conditions upon which a place has been offered to your child. By accepting a place for your child as a student you agree to be bound by these terms and conditions. We have endeavoured to draft this document in clear language, free, where possible, from legal jargon. It is, however, legally binding on both Royal Mount School and you. In this document, the term ‘parents’ is frequently used. Guardians are included within the meaning of that word.

2. Duration

This agreement will remain in force until your child concludes the end of Year 10 and all fees have been paid  in accordance with Condition 5 below.

3. Authority of the Head Teacher

Parents authorise the Head Teacher of Royal Mount School or their nominated deputy to take such action as the Head Teacher may consider being in the best interests of the student on a day-to-day basis.

4. Provision of Education

The Royal Mount School will do all that is reasonable to provide an educational environment and teaching of a range, standard and quality which is suitable for each student.

5. Fees

The fees and other expenses payable and the timing of such fees are set out on the Royal Mount School website.

The School makes every effort to hold fees stable for each academic year. However, the School reserves the right to increase fees at any time; any increase will be notified to you at least thirty (30) days before the increase takes effect. The liability to pay fees and all other expenses is the joint and several liabilities of the people who have signed the Conditions of Attendance.

A student whose fees have not been paid in full or in accordance with an agreed fee payment plan before the start of term may at any time be excluded from attending until full payment is made. Parents are liable to pay all costs, fees, disbursements and charges including legal fees and costs reasonably incurred by Royal Mount School in the recovery of any unpaid fees regardless of the value of the claim.

The Fees for additional subjects taken at any level are not eligible for a discount or refund if the student discontinues the additional tuition during the course.

The Academic Deposit is a deposit that is only refundable upon completion of an academic year, receipt of public exam results by the Head Teacher, if applicable and payment of any outstanding fees.

6. Notice Period

Parents can withdraw their child at any point by giving the notice to leave the school. Notice of withdrawal can be given by email to royalmountschool@gmail.com

Notification by any other means including by telephone is not valid.

Notice to withdraw a student can be given at any time.   Notice for the student to leave at the end of an academic year, must be received no later than the last day of scheduled lessons for the school in the Summer Term. The leaver’s fee is a pre-estimate of the school’s loss in these circumstances, and often, the actual loss is much greater. This rule is necessary to promote stability and the school’s ability to plan its staffing and other resources.

For the avoidance of doubt, if notice is not provided by the last day of scheduled lessons for the school in the Summer Term then the student will be deemed to be continuing for the following academic year and the notice clause for the relevant year will apply.

7. Confidentiality

The Royal Mount School acknowledges the importance of respecting the privacy of students and we consider their best interests at all times. As an online school, we have a very active web presence and use social media as one of our daily tools. Students will have the opportunity to appear on our website and on our social media in many ways, including in photographs, video, sound recordings and posts. Parents agree that the Head Teacher has full authority to suspend or expel a student in these circumstances. Parents will be contacted immediately by the Head Teacher if a student is suspended explaining the circumstances that have led to the suspension.
